The chartering of Phi Xi Omega Chapter (ΦΞΩ) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. occurred on February 13, 2000 in San Marcos, TX. Sixteen phenomenal women lit the torch that will always burn bright in the hearts of today’s chapter members. ΦΞΩ charter members are: Sorors Sherri Benn, Marilyn Bostic, Cynthia Brewer, LaCole Brooks, Pamela Emilien, Laurie Fluker, Michele Gregory, Amber Lewis, Etta Moore, Renee’ Rhine, Linda Robinson,Toyia Stewart, Martha Tatum, Peggy Terry, Celia Thompkins and Alice Yarbrough. Even as an interest group these women were community service driven. Blueprints for programs such as On Track, AKA Coat Day and Buckle-up Safety were designed in December 1999.

To date ΦΞΩ has hosted numerous community service projects including: promoting and participating in the African American Read In, MLK Day Activities, Hayes County Women Shelter Outreach, Scholarship Awards, Sponsored Mission trip to Africa, Early Readers Become Leaders Book Drive, Adopt a Family, and Something for the Sistas etc. ΦΞΩ is dedicated to the San Marcos community and will always work diligently to make the words of our beloved national hymn and pledge true.
